TalkTalk Broadband offers six packages total, three at each speed of broadband internet. Their cheapest are their TalkTalk landline and 1MB Broadband plan and their Existing landline and 1MB Broadband plan, each with the price of £19.99/mo. features in these plans include unlimited downloads, 5 free E-mail addresses, 15 MB of webspace, and the ability to surf and use the phone at the same time. With their 2MB plans, starting as low as £23.99, you get all the same features as their 1MB plans, but at speeds of up to 40 times faster than dial-up. Included in all of their packages is a free 3-month trial of one of their TalkTalk Online Security packages. These packages include antivirus software, personal firewalls, and other security measures to help protect your computer from viruses, worms, and hackers.
Trial Period
There is no trial period for any TalkTalk Broadband service, but they do offer a free 3-month trial on their security software that includes antivirus protection, personal firewalls, and other security measures.
Setup
TalkTalk Broadband is easy to set up. All you need to do is make sure you have a BT phone line, a local BT exchange that is broadband enabled, a PC that meets minimum requirements, an ADSL broadband modem, microfilters for each phone socket and the ability to make Direct Debit payments. Once you are sure you have all of these in place, just follow the easy do-it-yourself set-up installation CD that is included upon sign-up, or follow the instructions available on the website as well.
Access Numbers
There is no need for access numbers with TalkTalk Broadband, just make sure you have a BT phone line, and a local BT exchange that is broadband enabled.
Tech Support
TalkTalk Broadband offers free customer support in all of their packages. This is a really great feature, as some other broadband companies make you pay extra for certain customer services, or pay more for phone service. You can contact them either by phone in the available hours (Monday to Friday: 8am - 9pm, Saturday: 9am - 6pm, Sunday & Bank Holidays: 11am - 5pm), or through 24/7 E-mail. TalkTalk Broadband offers the same technical experience as you would find with any of the other big names in broadband service, as they are owned by The Carphone Warehouse, one of the leading mobile providers in Europe. There have been no complaints about their customer service, or their responsiveness to inquiries.
Computer Skills Required
There are relatively no computer skills required in order to use TalkTalk Broadband. All you have to do is follow the installation CD or easy to follow instructions on their website.
Email Addresses
With TalkTalk Broadband, you get 5 E-mail addresses with every account. This is an average number of addresses, as some companies offer up to 15, while others offer as low as 1-2 accounts.
Cancellation
Canceling your TalkTalk Broadband service is an easy process. All you have to do is follow the instructions laid out in their terms and conditions, and make sure you are not going against your 12-month minimum term contract.
